People in Cass County are preparing to go to court after WSP, a zinc factory filed a lawsuit against more than 30 citizens in the county.

Cass county continues to heat up.

Wsp has filed a lawsuit against more than 30 citizens in the county.

I spoke with the attorney representing the case and three of the people being sued today.

They say it's unsure what the company's goal is.

On july 22nd wsp filed a lawsuit against 34 citizens in cass county.

"the redevelopment commission transferring approximately $1.3 million dollars worth of real estate to wsp for ten dollars."

Attorney john schwarz along with attorney jim brujh are representing the citizens being sued.

After the group of residents filed a suit asking the cass county courts to review the transaction, wsp filed a law suit.

"there's also unknown plaintiffs.

They've sued unknown plaintiffs.

So i don't know if that includes all of the other thousands that are opposed to this project or not.

It could be, i don't know are they going to bring in more people later on."

Patricia razer is one of the first names that appears on the list of citizens being sued.

She says most of the people on the list live in clymers.

A town in cass county that's just a mile away from wsp's construction.

"i've lived in clymers in my house for 23 years.

Never have we ever experienced anything like this."

She says people were simply wanting to know how the county got away with selling more than 50 acres of land for $10.00.

"how they think that they could sell 54 acres which is millions of dollars for $10.00.

That makes that property 18 cents an acre.

Would you like to by , i'd like to buy it."

Melissa harrison lives with seven other people, five of which are her and her partner's kids.

She's not only concerned about the impact the factory could have on her kids' health, she's also wondering what the company's goal is in suing her.

"i don't know what they want.

They definitely ain't going to get no money out of me because this is where all of my goes."

Wsp released a statement stating that the company is merely asking the court to confirm that no one has any claim or interest in the property other than wsp.

Right now as the law suit sits there's no judge to hear the case.

Schawrz says the judge originally assigned to the case recused them selves for unknown reasons.

Another judge out of the county was asked to take on the case and declined to do so.

They are now waiting to assign the case to another judge.

We'll continue monitoring this situation.
