CNN reports that Adreian Payne, a former standout collegiate athlete and professional NBA player.

Was found dead in Orlando in the early hours of May 9.

Payne was 31 years old.

Orange County authorities reportedly responded to shots fired around 1 a.m.

Eastern Time.

The man believed to have shot Payne, identified as Lawrence Dority, was found at the crime scene.

He was then transported to Orange County Police headquarters.

According to authorities, Dority was arrested on charges of First Degree Murder.

Adreian Payne was a standout player at Michigan State for four seasons.

After winning two Big Ten Conference Championships, Payne entered the 2014 NBA draft.

He was selected in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks.

Payne's former collegiate coach, Tom Izzo, was shocked at the players' untimely death.
