The Oneonta Common Council held a meeting Wednesday night to discuss what their budget will look like for 2021.

To discuss the appointing of a new city manager after former city manager george korthauer resigned 8 months ago.
The council has chosen to redefine the position and met again tonight to review this role further.

Good evening jason... on video conference call discussions resumed as the oneonta common council met to further consider the next steps in leaning towards implementing a new city administrator rather than a city manager.
Each member of the council had a chance to look over the changes to the job description prior to tonight's meeting.
The only changes that were made to the description were changes in the definition of the common council as far as verbiage is concerned and confirming that the administrator will coordinate with the financial director on decision-making.
Now the changes are to be finalized by the city charter.
Gary herzig: we can ask david to put this in final form as a charter change which is actually passed similarly to local law.
It requires laying on the desks and then once it's approved in the vote then there's a mayors public hearing before it's signed.
The council then entered an executive session to discuss how these changes could affect current staff members.
Mayor herzig told newschannel2 that there are a number of candidates that the council is considering to appoint to this new role.
No decision has been made yet.
