Officials with the alabama department of public health pointed out that the jump happened since people started attending high school football games.

In a news conference monday, officials reminded everyone that just because cases are going down, doesn't mean the pandemic is over.

Now with the long labor day holiday weekend approaching, they fear cases could get even worse.

" let's keep that up so in three weeks from now we're not having to increase the number of press conferences we do, and we can do what this county needs to do."

Health officials say they know people are going to celebrate the labor day holiday this weekend, but they're asking people to social distance and wear these masks so the number of positive cases don't rise.
