Extracurricular activities have been suspended for the foreseeable future for one monroe county school.

All extracurricular activities at aberdeen high school have been suspended until further notice after a student athlete was exposed to coronavirus.

Aberdeen school district superintendent jeff clay told me when he hopes to have the students back to practice.

"at one time when we made the decision we thought it was a student, but we have since got conformation that it was the parent that had a confirmed case of covid 19."

The football team and basketball teams have been the only extra curricular activities on campus.

Superintendent jeff clay did not confirm what team the student athlete was on.

"the student was on campus friday and he called the coach yesterday and stayed home."

Clay says he hopes that athletes can return in two weeks for practice but that is not certain.

School district administrators are working to clean and sanitize all exposed areas .

"to make sure we can get everything cleaned and sanitized and make sure that when we come back everything is good to go."
