They are protesting what they are calling a lack of transparency regarding personal protective equipment from hospitals around the country during the pandemic.

Action news nows vanessa romo was there and joins us with what nurses and hospital officials are saying.

48 registered nurses and 97 health care workers have died due to covid-19 across the country.

The nurses i spoke to today say they don't want to keep seeing their own die while trying to save lives.

Dozens of nurses and patients stood in solidarity tonight with a lit candle in hand for the lives lost and the ones still on the frontlines with no proper p-p-e.

They said as of right now--- enloe medical center is supplying its nurses with proper p-p-e but are unsure if this will continue due to a nationwide shortage.

Nurses also told me they would like the hospital to provide information and meet with them to collaborate on pandemic plans to better serve all.

We want to be involved in the processes we want to be informed of the actual ppe that are available so that we can anticipate what will happen in the future.

Enloe: due to ppe this is a worldwide problem, not a local one and despite this ongoing challenge enloe medical center is ready and able to meet the medical needs of our community.

Enloe medical center also says administrators update its employees and community, specifically of the worldwide shortage.

The nurses hope the defense protection act will be passed.

They say this will help them if a surge happens.

Vanessa romo action news now.

We checked - enloe also says they have the capacity in the facility to take patients and have the supplies to meet needs of the community if a surge does happen.
