Local churches push to avoid cancelling services amid Coronavirus

Just last night.

Today churches here in tupelo are putting plans in action to keep their congregations safe... which could include not having a church service in the church... ((pkg)) "i don't ever want to not have services, personally."

"as of right now we are going to hold our weekly services."

With the state of mississippi asking for crowds larger than 250 not to gather..

Local pastors are faced with possibly having to cancel sunday services..

"this virus comes along and so we have to ask ourselves the question how do we grapple with being both spiritual but yet practical with wisdom."

But for pastor rob armstrong of harrisburg baptist church and richard price of north green street church of christ...cancelling service is not the first option... both chruches are asking members to refrain from touching like shaking hands..

Members can even expect communion to be served in a different way..

All in efforts to keep everyone safe and able to gather for worship..

"we may need to make a sacrifice here for a moment for the good of our brothers and sisters, for the good of our neighbors, it just a reminder that we're longing for something more than this world can give us."

But most of all they are asking for all church members who may be sick to worship from home to protect others..

"also asking people who are ill not to feel guilted or forced into coming to worship, god loves you.

After speaking with both pastors canceling church service is not apart of the plan just yet but if the risk continues to grow they are ready to make than an opotion.
