Collegium picks Chief Justices of Delhi, Raj, Gauhati High Courts as Supreme Court judges

The Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, has recommended the appointment of three chief justices of high courts as judges of the apex court. Justices Satish Chandra Sharma, Augustine George Masih, and Sandeep Mehta have been recommended for the positions. The decision was made to address the backlog of cases and ensure full working judge-strength in the court. The Supreme Court currently has 31 judges out of a sanctioned strength of 34.
