Biggest transfer since 'emergency' shows power shift to judiciary: Judge

Justice Bibek Chaudhuri, an outgoing judge of the Calcutta High Court, has criticized the Supreme Court collegium's decision to transfer 24 judges including his between high courts, comparing it to the transfer of judges during the Emergency. The outgoing judge believes that this signals a shift of power from the executive to the judiciary. Chaudhari, who recently got transferred to Patna High Court, had requested the collegium to reconsider his transfer but was denied.
