Florida saw a sizable drop in the number of new unemployment claims for the week ending Aug. 22 The state had 45,723 first-time claims last week, down 37.17% from 72,774 in the previous week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. That trend continues a fall from a spike of 132,831 new claims for the week ending July 11. Florida's number of new claims moved from second worst in the nation to fifth worst last week, behind California (209,516), New York (63,113), Georgia (54,056) and Texas (52,318).…
