As the global tug-of-war over the abortion industry continues to heat up, France made headlines this week by becoming the first country in the world to enshrine abortion rights in their national constitution.
Lawmakers from both houses of parliament made the change in a sweeping 780-72 vote, which now explicitly enshrines in the French Constitution "a woman's guaranteed freedom to have recourse to an abortion."
