On Tuesday, Turkish police fatally shot a man and a woman affiliated with a leftist "terrorist" organisation after they attacked a security checkpoint outside Istanbul's primary courthouse, injuring six individuals, according to officials.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya identified the assailants as members of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C), a marginal leftist group known for periodic attacks in Turkey since the 1980s.
Despite the incident, the group has not initially claimed responsibility for the attack.
