A young mother training to be a police officer was killed by her instructor, and her family is searching for answers.
Maurica Manyan was shot in the chest by Jesse Porter, a retired D.C.
Police officer.
Porter was hired as a contractor for a special police training by the Anacostia Neighborhood Library where Manyan was hired as a special officer.
Porter’s attorneys say he was joking around with the group and thought it was his training gun, but her family is seeking justice because they claim that he should not have been able to carry a loaded weapon into the library according to D.C.
Law.
