Major quake kills hundreds across Turkey, Syria

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Turkey and Syria, killing hundreds of people and causing widespread damage.

The quake struck near the Turkish city of Gaziantep, which is home to around 2 million people, and was followed by over 40 aftershocks.

The rescue efforts have been hampered by a winter blizzard that has covered major roads with ice and snow.

The earthquake has caused buildings to crumble in cities such as Adiyaman, Malatya, and Diyarbakir, with many residents rushing out onto the streets in panic.
