Dozens of homes were destroyed after heavy rain in South Cotabato province, the Philippines, on Wednesday (June 30).

Resident Amiel Cagayan captured the damaged houses after they were battered by torrents of water in Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato.

Town official Merilo Cordero said the flood waters rose to about 5ft deep.

He said the flood destroyed at least 53 homes in the area and residents had been evacuated into temporary shelters.

The municipal and provincial governments have extended emergency relief goods to displaced families, many of whom are rice farmers.

Local whose houses were damaged are now staying at the town hall plaza and the local school buildings.
