Wildlife officials treated a gunshot wound to an elephant in Sri Lanka on 17 March.

The treatment took place in Dambulu Halmillawewa, Dambulla, in the country's Central Province.

It happened nearly four months after she originally suffered a gunshot wound to her leg.

A video shows wildlife officials attempting to treat a wounded female elephant.

They used a drone to monitor her movement and examine her situation.

After a while, they shot in her direction to try to get her to move from where she was.

However, the creature moved further inside the body of water where she was resting.

The officials then entered the stream to immobilise her to treat her injuries.
