Lil Wayne Hit With Federal Weapons Charge in Florida.
The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida has charged Lil Wayne with a federal weapons charge.

The charge is one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Wayne, who was convicted of a felony gun charge in New York in 2009, is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

If convicted, Wayne could face up to 10 years in prison.

He is scheduled to appear in court next month.

The federal charge stems from a December 2019 incident when federal agents searched Wayne’s private plane at Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport.

Along with other guns and drugs found on the plane, they reportedly found a gold-plated handgun in Wayne’s luggage.

At the time of the incident, Wayne’s attorney said he was “cleared” by agents to leave, even after the discovery of the items. .
There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it.
There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person.
The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm, Attorney Howard Srebnick, via ‘Pitchfork’
