Why Is The FBI Dragging Its Heels On Producing A Report On Domestic Terrorism?

The FBI categorizes white supremacy underneath a broader category, called 'racially motivated violent extremism.'

The National Defense Authorization Act required the FBI to report on US domestic terrorism, and how it and the Department of Homeland Security counter it.

But according to Business Insider, the report, which was due in June 2020, is now four months overdue.

The FBI says one part of the legally mandated report is being reviewed by other agencies; the other is incomplete.

The agency blames the pandemic.

However, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep.

Bennie Thompson says he thinks the delay is due to something else entirely.

Rep.

Bennie Thompson (D-MS) says he thinks it's because the report 'would not be viewed favorably' by the Trump administration.

I think [FBI Director Christopher] Wray understands that if he wades too far in the water around this subject, he might drown, or get fired, to be honest.
