A Fort Wayne neighborhood and the Fraternal Order of Police Indiana Wayne Lodge 14 are remembering one of their own.

Tonight--a fort wayne neighborhood, and the fort wayne police are remembering and honoring one of their own.

Fox 55's jentill neal tells us how they are honoring officer david tinsley who died while in the line of duty.

3 >2 years ago officer david tinsley died in duty.

However, the community is keeping his memory alive with a new memorial.>14:47:10-14:47:29 "it's really important to have officers involved and in your neighborhood.

I think that meant a lot to a lot of neighbors.

He was a favorite of a lot of his neighbors."

Officer david tinsley served as an officer for the fort wayne police department for 16 years.

And was well known in the historic fairmont neighborhood where he lived with his wife kristina and family.>14:49:53-14:50:14"he was a great guy.

He really wanted to make a difference.

He enjoyed his job.

He worked hard to protect and serve.

He tried to do his very best for the community.

He had a sort of dry sarcastic sense of humor.

He was one of those people who was quiet at first but once you got to know him, he had a lot to say."now there sits a memorial in his honor thanks to a grant from the city of fort wayne, berry's welding, and the fraternal order of police indiana lodge 14 foundation leaving a legacy, llc.>"14:47:29-14:47:38"after he passed away we had neighbors contact us and wanted to do something for him for his memory."thrivent financial put money toward the landscaping and the city provided two benches and a bike rack.

Fairmont neighborhood volunteers helped fund the installation..officer tinsley's wife kris tinsley says the support is extremely heartwarming.>14:49:28-14:4... "two years later, it's still people remembering and doing things and helping and supporting us."

>because of the rain, the official dedication cermony was cancelled, but they will reschedule one at a later date.
