The Manager of the Butte County Clerk's Office tells Action News Now the number of mail-in ballots they have received so far is greater than what they received for the primary at this time, and the primary was record-breaking.

The butte county clerk's office is seeing record voter turnout.

Action news now reporter amy lanski spoke to the butte county clerk's office manager and joins us live in downtown chico.

This is one of many official ballot boxes across butte county.

Keaton denlay tells action news now the number of mail in ballots so far is greater than the primary.

And he says the primary was record breaking.

He says if you're a registered voter then you got a ballot in the mail.

In butte county more than 124 thousand people registered to vote.

So far denlay says they got about 46 thousand ballots back.

"just get your vote by mail ballot in early, if you want to see your vote counted in the election night results, that first wave of results when the media is getting ahold of that stuff, you want to vote by mail early because that is what you see on election night."

Denlay says in the primary 97% of the votes were by mail.

Denlay says it's hard to compare to the last presidential election to this one... because of the coronavirus and the number of mail in ballots.
