George... today's discussion among city leaders was really a look back at how dmc fared over the past five years... and a look forward at what the future holds for rochester.

"we are in such a better place than many communities that i'm listening to the mayors who are saying 'oh, we cancelled all of our projects, we were going to do sewer, we were going to do... we've stopped.'

And we haven't done that, and dmc is part of the reason that we've been able to continue on."

Today's discussion... also giving officials the opportunity to tout dmc's accomplishmen ts over the past five years.

'we have achieved great progress in job creation in this area.

More than 80% of the jobs created pay greated than the area median income.

More than 960 million dollars worth of private investment has occurred, certainly new tax revenue both because of payroll and because of underdevelope d sites that have been redeveloped.

While tax revenue from downtown properties may have increased... council member patrick keane says rising property values could be a double?

"i think they make a good case for property values going up, but i think there's another case that says 'hey, in that same five year period, needless to say, today was not solely focused on dmc's many successes.

Officials acknowledge there's room for improvement in how the project can support affordable housing and make downtown construction more tolerable to businesses and consumers alike.
