Chico Unified students returned to campus Monday for in-person classes and was a bittersweet moment for some seniors.

High school seniors have missed out on a lot during the pandemic.

Action news now reporter dani masten shows us why this is a bittersweet momenet for some at chico high.

One senior chico high student tells me she is happy to be back on campus here but says it is still not the same.

Senior holly fortier returns to campus today to finsish out senior year but this is not what she had in mind for her last year.

"the spirit of chico high is like my favorite part and having that aspect be a little off is super sad.

It is super weird not being able to see all my friends in class because our classes are half the size.

Our classes would usually be 30 and now is a class of maybe 15 people."

Sot/holly fortier/senior at chico high though returning to campus is not the same, she remains positive by fufilling her role as vice president for the associated student body.

"i have been in asb for two years now and i love it.

I love being in the know and being able to plan all the big events.

It's a great class and all the people that are in it are so fun.

We have a great teacher.

I am so grateful to have someone that is pushing us to make more school videos and to have all this spirit be crazy and this is so important especially with the time we are in now."

She says that as of now she is not able to plan any big events for students but hopes to in the near furtue.

Dani ll tag fortier tells me that after she grauduates from chico high, she plans to move to a different state to start her college journey.

Chico high students started their in- person classes today with reduced class sizes and are requiring students to wear masks and sanitize often.
