Virus related deaths.... starting today--- evansville's new executive order will go into effect--- requiring gatherings of more than 125 people--to be approved by the health department... 44news reporter marisa patwa is live in evansville with a breakdown of what this means for the rivercity.

This order was of course announced over one week ago after a worrisome spike in covid-19 cases.

It pertains more to wedding ceremonies, family reunions and festivals.

With event organizers now required to submit a plan--10 days prior for approval... plans must provide guest information, including steps taken to screen those attending whether it be self reporting or taking temperatures and making sure proper social distancing is maintained -- from spaced out seating to one way entrances.

This order does not pertain to retail stores, restaurants, worship services or any office spaces.

City, county and state law enforcement agencies along with the emergency management agency will be helping to enforce the order.

Online forms are*now available on the vanderburgh county health department's website... city officials ask the community to follow the rules in keeping each other safe.

Now the mayor's office says while they don't want to restrict commerce and want everyone to enjoy their celebrations, they also need to work to slow the spread of covid-19 and keep everyone safe.

And while this executive order is only in effect for seven days, it will likely be extended.
