"we are "we are praying for the firefighters, and their families and hope that they are all okay and that everybody will get through this."

The community is rallying together tonight after multiple brush fires in the area.

Massive brush fires are wreaking havoc in "several parts" of the wabash valley tonight..

Dry... windy conditions are making them dangerous to fight.

We told you about a very large brush fire in knox county, indiana earlier this evening..

On news 10 at 6.

We'll update you on that in just a moment.

But since then... "several" large brush fires started in edgar county, illinois.

Dispatch illinois.

Dispatch told us firefighters are now wrapping up fighting them.

We sent storm team 10's anissa claiborne to the brush fires.

She explains what's happening and how the community is responding.

Earlier today, a red flag warning was issued for the paris, illinois area.

This means conditions were dry and windy.

That's the right mix for a fire to spread quickly.

That's exactly what happened a short while later...when a fire erupted near grand view st.

Wind speeds were more than 20 miles an hour that helped the fire to spread across several corn fields.

While firefighters from across the county rushed to fight it, the paris community came together as well.

Volunteers set up food and water drop off locations.

They did this through text alerts and word of mouth.

One location was memorial elementary school.

Many residents who dropped off food say unity is nothing new to the community.

"its paris.

I mean paris comes together and rallies behind an issue, a cause whenever there is one."

As of air time, edgar county dispatch reports all of the fires are out and firefighters are wrapping up their work.

They also tell us vermillion county, indiana sent three units to help fight the fires.

Patrece back to you similar scene in southern indiana as well!

"knox county" firefighters were busy putting out hot spots tonight from a large brush fire!

This is video from late this afternoon...from news 10 bureau chief gary brian.

He tells us...fire crews were staged at "vill-wock farms".

Officials say much of the problem was near freelandville road.

That's in edwardsport, indiana.

Crews battled that fire since 2-30 this afternoon..

They were putting out hot spots up until after 8 p-m.

Crews were spraying water on houses to keep them wet.

But the wind gusts we experienced today kept fanning the flames.

Let's get it over to kevin orpurt right now.

He walks us through how those wind gusts... and the dry air are really working to keep these fires burning... tonight increasing clouds, with a low around 52.

West southwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1pm.

Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 59.

West northwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday night mostly clear, with a low around 32.
