First Day of Early Voting kicks off in Vigo County

Early voting began in vigo county this morning.

You can early vote at 3 locations in vigo county.

Those locations are the meadows shopping center basement...the vigo county annex...and the haute city center.

That's where we find news 10's dominic miranda.

He was at polling locations all day today.

He joins us now live after speaking with one terre haute voter patrece..

I'm here at the haute city center which is just one of 3 early voting locations here in vigo county...where polls have just closed for day one.

Vigo county clerk brad newman says...the first day of early voting here in vigo county has gone very well!

I caught up with one local voter today.

He told me why it's so important to make your voice heard [take pkg duration:1:05] pk} robert mix takes voting very seriously.

The terre haute resident has voted in every election since 19-68.

He was one of many across vigo county who voted on day one of early voting.

Mix...a veteran....says the voting process was incredibly smooth..... and has this message for vigo county residents.

"every vote is important.

No one has absolutely no excuse to not vote.

They got bus services.

They got free rides.

No excuse."

Mix says traditionally... from his point of view.... voting turnouts in vigo county haven't been that successful.

But he says this year's election is incredibly important.

He told me no matter who you vote for...it's just important that you make your voice be heard.... and he shared with me why he's so passionate about casting his ballot.

"i care about the country.

I will take care of my own and i always vote for what's best for the country...maybe not for me...but what i think is best for the country."

The other two early voting locations are the vigo county annex and the meadows shopping center basement.

These locations including haute city center will be open from now until election day on november 3rd.
