Water crew reports Ilion fire

Crews from the Ilion Water Department noticed a porch fire Monday morning, and called 911 while helping to get the family out before it spread.

Overnight...came upon a porch fire...and that crew may have saved some lives at the same time.

It happened just before 3:00 this morning on north thirdavuee officials say after the water crew called 9-1-1...police arrived on scene first and used fire extinguishers to try to put out the fire until fire crews arrived.

There was a family of four inside asleep at the time...and were awakened by the water crew banging on the door.

Two kids and two adults.

The mom tells us off camera that she is eternally grateful to the water crew.

The fire was contained to the front porch of the home...but fire officials are also crediting that water crew with saving the day.

The family waaloweto go e damage again, was confined to the porch area.

Fire officials say the cause is under investigation.
