Dr. deborah birx has been a member of the coronavirus task force since march.

Over the last two months she has traveled 30 different states including many university campuses.

Today she made her second trip to the bluegrass state as she spent the day at the university of kentucky.

Abc 36's cody adams was there and has more.

White house coronavirus task force member dr deborah birx visited lexington today.

As she took part in a round table discussion with medical professionals and community leaders at uk.

Dr. birx: we really see continued improvement due to the policies by the governor but also the work to follow guidance.

They touched on several different topics but primarily how the city can avoid becoming a hot spot like other places in the state.

Dr. birx: making sure you wear mask and social distance don't have big parties, i know it's difficult but i want to assure you you cannot tell who has covid.

One of the biggest points dr birx is trying to drive home... the continued importance of mask wearing.

Dr. birx: on some of the college towns we've see students in masks and parents not so follow the same instructions they're a great example of how they can stop the virus.

Overall she says she's pleased with the way lexington is handling things so far, but there's still work to be done.

Dr, birx: there will continue to be small outbreaks but i'm confident the governor and his health team will be able to stop them before the spread.
