The Austin police department is investigating two shootings that happened in the span of 20 minutes Monday evening.

Just before 10:30 monday night, two people got out of a white impala and started firing at a vehicle in the 700 block of second street northwest.

12 shell casings were found in this area.

Then austin police responded to another call in the 200 block of 12th avenue sw.

11 shell casings were found.

"at this point in time, it's quite possibly that they are related."

Two adults and a child were inside the house on 12th avenue at the time of the shooting... austin police chief david mckichan telling kimt news 3 ?

"* the department doesn't believe they were the intended targets of the gunshots.

Luckily ?

"* no one ws hurt in these shootings ?

"* but the victims still have to deal with damaged property.

"its a really to the community and i think as a whole its not something we should ever be accepting of and certainly if you're in a position to know some of these folks and know what happened, you would try to step up, try to help us out."

If you live in either of these two affected neighborhoods and have a security camera or a doorbell camera, austin police ask that you review that footage to see if you recorded any of the incident or a white impala driving away, and get in touch with police.
