Preparing for the new school year

Rochester teachers, parents, and students are gearing up for the upcoming year.

Through this pandemic."/// rochester public school will start the new school year this week.

To keep up with health guidelines, students will rotate between in class and distance learning.

Sheila knode is a mother of four girls ages 4 to 9.

Knode sot: "we have three that are in school now and they are all in different grades.

So that was probably the biggest struggle learning to teach to each of them."

She says it's been hard to trying explain to her girls about the upcoming year.

For knode, creating normalcy and implementing routines are what she feels will help her kids be prepared to tackle the new year.

They went back to school shopping.

To prepare them for distance learning, she will make sure they get up to eat breakfast and get dressed even if it's to learn from home.

Knode sot: "we have a very strict regiment we did when i was home with them to make it seem more like a school day.

Natalie stoffel teaches kindergarten.

This year there are several new health guidelines and teaching models that she's had to quickly master.

She's prearing her classroom and curriculum accordingly.

"we are making sure desks are six feet apart.some of us are doing books about mask and coloring youre own mask and really create a sense of normalcy for the kids.
