Across the nation, many working parents are turning to co-ops, help from relatives or altering their work schedules to find the best learning environment for their children.

Today.

For every family, making distance learning*work will take balance and*a lot of patience.

But for some parents, working from home isn't an option, so online learning is bringing some major challenges.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy spoke to families today to find out their game plan for the upcoming school year.

Studies show that one out of every six oregonians are parents who*cannot work from home.

Shayla: "as of right now i'm gonna have to try to hire somebody to help out."

Shayla landeros is a single, working mother of three.

She says more resources need to be available to those in*challenging situations.

Shayla: "i didn't have the ability to hover over her shoulder, and almost immediately she was abusing that access."

With 2.1 million people in the oregon workforce, 36 percent*can work from home.

But there's over 350,000 working parents are in a bind as*17 percent fall into this category: having children, the parents cannot work from home and there is*no other non-working adult present.

Bridge: balancing multiple schedules and trying to stay on track -- families say they're overwhelmed just thinking about this upcoming school year.

I spoke to one single mother of five kids& who says she's terrified after the sudden switch to online learning back in march didn't go too well.

Kathleen: "to be honest with you like.

I feel like i'm drowning."

Kathleen eubank has*five kids in three different schools.

Kathleen: "i've had multiple mental breakdowns like it was really really bad, like i would cry."

Her hope is that both*parents and*students will receive more support.

Kathleen: "they need to know that what is being encouraged and happening right now is being supported by people that know what they're doing and who are going to get them through it."
