South African police and gender violence protesters clash in front of parliament

South African riot police and gender violence protesters clashed in front of parliament after thousands rallied despite a COVID-19 ban on gatherings of more than 50 people.

The protesters were joined by a large contingent of bikers who broke through the police cordon.

Police then fired stun grenades and rubber bullets to push the crowds back.

Police arrested a few protesters as running battles ensued.
