Heavy rain damages houses in Uttarakhand, Badrinath National Highway shut

Several houses were damaged due to heavy downpour in Uttarakhand’s Dharchula.

Residents have requested the local administration to allow them to look for their belongings under the debris.

The debris of the damaged houses has also blocked the roads in the area.

Local administration has made arrangements for people to move to a safer place.

"There has been extensive damage due to rainfall.

We’ve made it a priority to keep people safe then save their properties," said Anil Kumar Shukla, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dharchula.

He added, “People want to retrieve their properties that are under the debris.

We are trying to get it done with the help of machines.” Meanwhile, Badrinath National Highway has been shut due to landslide.

The landslide occurred in Pursadi village of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.

National Highways & other teams are working to clear the roads.
