A two-storey building collapse in central India, killing two people.

Nine of those trapped have been rescued, including two children.

The incident took place in Dewas’s Lal Gate area along Station Road in Madhya Pradesh on August 25.

Visuals from the incident show an NDRF team at work rescuing people trapped under the rubble.

The local municipal corporation and other teams are engaged in the operation, said Jagdish Dawar, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dewas.

The rescued people have been sent to hospital for treatment.

Chandra Mauli Shukla District Collector Dewas stated that the house owner Zakir told officials that due to the occasion of Muharram, his relatives and neighbours were visiting the house several times a day, which makes him unsure of the number of people that could be trapped under debris.
