Many parents have to rely on buses to transport their children back and forth to school.

Have to rely on buses to transport their children back and forth to school.

Wtva's chelsea brown is live with how one school district in monroe county is keeping bus riders safe in the middle of a pandemic.

Here at amory high school bus drivers are working hard to make sure all children stay healthy.

I spoke with amory school district about how often they clean the buses.

Across the district only about 200 students ride buses each day.

This is down about 40% from last year.

Those students are broken up into 22 bus routes.

19 of those buses only have one child per seat.

3 of those buses have two children per seat mostly having siblings sit together.

All bus drivers wear a mask and gloves.

When students get on the bus, drivers check if students are wearing a mask.

They will also encourage students to use the new hand sanitizer station.

When the drivers are done with their morning route and all the kids are off, the bus drivers starts the sanitation process.

They spray the entire bus with a alcohol based cleaning solution.

(what are the cdc requirements?) the drivers then wipes down all seats and hand rails.

They repeat process in the afternoon after dropping the children off at home.

The school administrators are encouraging parents to check their child's temperature before getting on the bus each morning.

Staff take students' temperature when they get to school.
