Aberdeen students returned to class today some virtual learners and others in a traditional setting.

School district in monroe county started back to school today,,, but many students chose to do so from home.... wtva's chelsea brown was in aberdeen to find out how many decided to do virtual learning.

I spoke with superintendent jeff clay about how many students are in each classroom.

"about 25-30% that are going virtual" since there is less students on campus social distancing is not an issue.

Superintendent clay says there is only 5-8 people per classroom.

Students and staff have to wear masks.

To help keep hallway traffic down teachers in the high school change classes instead of the students.

Nat sound"each morning the teachers have to check for all of these symptoms" teachers check for symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat... "the kids look excited the teachers look excited, so far so good" students will also eat breakfast and lunch in their classrooms virtual students can come and pick up lunches each day.

"it has been almost 6 months to the day since they have been in the classrooms" high touch surfaces are cleaned regularly.

The entire school is cleaned at night.

"we got our custodial service, on the hour they're gonna go through were in here a little whole ago cleaning the doorknobs" tag the school district is set up on a hybrid schedule, so for those student who did not return to class today..

They will return tomorrow.
