After his well-received Pareeksha on how the economic condition of the parents decide the education of their children, Prakash Jha has now come out with Aashram that takes a critical look at blind faith and the self-styled gurus that thrive off it.
Starring Bobby Deol as ‘Baba Nirala’, one such baba who might be a conman, the show has found itself in controversies before its release on MX Player.
However, Jha is confident that the concerns will vanish once people watch the show.
“It has always been the case with my films, people are concerned and my films are banned but once they come out and people watch them, everyone is quiet,” he says in a conversation with HT Digital Entertainment Editor Jyoti Sharma Bawa.
About casting Bobby Deol as Baba Nirala, the filmmaker says he is an unusual choice and a terrific actor.
The show lands on August 28.
The filmmaker also speaks about Sushant Singh Rajput's death and the contentious insider-outsider debate.
