Communications Director Kathryn Ragsdale said the Blue Springs plant has donated thousands of dollars for community support, and is offering help to others who may need it.

I'm alyssa martin ... toyota manufacturing plant in blue springs is helping the community during the pandemic... w-t-v-a's bronson woodruff joins us now live from the plant in blue springs to tell us some of what the company is up to, and how organizations needing relief can apply for assistance... i''m in front of the toyota plant in blue springs where communications manager kathryn ragsdale said the plant has donated thousands of dollars for community support, and is offering help to others who may need it.

Toyota is really dedicated to making sure we do all that we can do in the community, especially during this covid crisis."

A spokesperson for toyota in blue springs said in a press release that toyota has given about one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in grant funding, as well as masks and other protective equipment.

"we've done several food banks, mobile food banks, and through that activity, we've donated about seventy thousand dollars to the mid-south food bank pantry."

"recently we made a donation of materials to the habitat for humanity."

Workers said they rounded up materials around the plant.

That no one was using.

"we found about fifteen-hundred dollars' worth of roofing materials, and so we were really happy to share that."

"we've also donated things like face masks to the hospitals."

She added the plant has also donated one hundred gallons of hand sanitizer to hospitals in three counties.

Toyota announced that for two thousand twenty one, it's focusing its grant funding on coronavirus relief.

"if you reach us through the grant application process, we'll be happy to review your request and support as we can."

Any organizations needing relief during the coronavirus pandemic can submit their request to toyota online at the website on your screen.
