This morning students from moulton middle and elementary school in lawrence county are waiting to start the school year after the district pushed the first day of virtual learning to monday.

This comes after staff from both schools were exposed to the coronavirus.

Waay31s sierra phillips is live with why virtual classes were moved to next week.

Moulton middle and elementary students were supposed to start virtual classes yesterday but superintendent jon brett smith told us the start date was moved to monday to give parents time to get the technology they need.

Both schools will have chromebook pickups tomorrow and monday.

Superintendent smith said classes were moved online because they weren't going to risk students safety by keeping schools open he said they will give students time to adjust to the new system and teachers are going to be lenient with assignments.

"nobody will be penalized for not having wifi, not having access to the internet on this short of notice.

We're going to do the very best we can.

We're working on that as a system and the state is also working on it."

There will also be wifi-equipped buses parked in moulton so students can access it.

In person classes will resume august 26th.

All other lawrence county schools started traditional learning yesterday reporting live in hsv sp waay31 news.
