Cases reported in coos county.

Students at oregon state will do most of their learning - 90 percent -- online in the fall..

Kezi 9 news reporter chris lueneburg shows us what they hope to get out of the experience... and how much they think it should cost.

Like all students-- senior connor bates got the news from administrators via an email last night.

"the first thing i did was go and talk to my roommates."

90 percent of classes this fall will be taught remotely-- the 10 percent that are still in-person will involve hands-on labs.

"i'm marketing so i don't have any labs on campus.

So will not be on campus unless i just want to come and study, so."

Bates says he chose o-s-u for it's campus and opportunities for learning, recreation and leadership... many of which are now gone.

"i think it's definately a situation where the tuition should be lowered.

Personally i pay for school completely by myself."

But the university says there will be no tuition reduction.

"while trading bookbags for laptops may be a tradeoff that's tough to swallow for some students, university officials say the education will still be top notch."

"we understand that students feel that it's not quite the same.

They're right.

It's not quite the same.

That doesn't mean its not of the same value."

Administrators say that with investments in technology, safety and instruction for faculty and staff-- the cost of quality education hasn't gone down-- no matter the location.

"the students at oregon state this fall will be recieving the same level of quality in struction by osu faculty if they were in person or remote."

The amount of in person classes may increase in winter or spring-- depending on the severity of the pandemic... but bates hopes he can make the most of his senior year.

"i still feel like maybe not getting as much as i hoped for out of college."

There will be an virtual informational session for parents thursday at 3 p.m.
