Alternating Schedule For Sheffield City Schools

School will be august 17th.

Tonight -- tehre are more than 35-hundred cases in the region.

746 of those came within the past 2-weeks.

Sheffield city school students will now be on an alternating school schedule until september 4th.

The board of education unanimously voted to change it's back to school plan in a special called meeting friday afternoon.

Students will now be split into groups and have in-person class two days a week and virtual the other three.

Superintendent keith davis said they've already had seven teachers quarantine over the summer because they had coronavirus symptoms or possible exposures.

He said thankfully all were tested and came back negative.

My biggest concern is having my staff quarantined, whether it be certified staff or un-certified staff and when you're a small school district losing a few staff members can really cripple you."

Davis said a lot of the district's substitute teachers are in the high risk age category and won't come back this year to work.

Students will go back to school on a staggered restart
