Pkg: a few high school football coaches in alabama are asking the alabama high school athletic association to cancel the football season.

But, huntsville city schools athletics director, scott stapler, told me his staff believes they can have a safe season.

"we had a whole week of training we went through with all the coaches, assistant coaches, any administrators who were going to work with the kids."

Jemison head coach, harold wells is also comfortable with kicking off the 2020 season during the coronavirus pandemic.

The veteran coach believes canceling the season, takes opportunities away from student athletes.

"this is your time to shine, you don't know what's in your future, you may have a scholarship coming down your pipe."

Stapler called summer workouts a trial period.

He's confident huntsville city schools passed despite two people connected to huntsville high school's football team testing positive for covid-19.

If more cases are confirmed, any player directly exposed must quarantine.

"this is probably going to happen along the way, so we just need to follow the guidelines and make sure everyone understands it."

Ll: grissom head coach chris english says his team has been doing a good job all summer following the safety guidelines.

He said not much is going to change moving from practicing football to playing football, there will just be more protocols in place on the side lines, reporting for waay 31 sports im lynden blake.
