After those cdc guidelines came out... some teachers have decided not to return to the classroom and a career they love because of fears for their own safety.

A recent poll found 1 in five teachers say they're unlikely to go back to the classroom... fearing they'll get sick.

9 out of 10 are worried about enforcing social distancing.

We already know that schools in shasta county are set to have in person instruction next month... but butte county is on the watch list meaning they cannot have students back in the classroom for the time being.

For one retired teacher... she says keeping kids six feet apart will not be easy.

Kids are kids.

Kids are going to do what kids do.

They're, they're messy by nature, they're social by nature.

Keeping them 6 feet apart is a huge challenge.

Many fear already under funded schools will not be able to meet the challenge of keeping things safe.

The american federation of teachers estimates it will cost 2 point 3 million dollars per school... for masks, hand sanitizer, and equipment and staff to disinfect.

The cdc guidance suggests that if schools remain closed, the risks for students contracting and spreading coronavirus are low, while the risks for students suffering academically and health-wise are high.### parents
