Right now, they only have about 60% of the judges they need.

More than half of them were reported this new on daybreak new for you on daybreak, the august primary in minnesota is now less than 4 weeks away.

Rochester still needs election judges.

Kimt news 3's madelyne watkins joins us live this morning to explain how you can stay safe while heading to the polls next month.

Brooke and tyler.

I'm a registered voter here in minnesota and i received my polling place last month in the mail.

And yesterday... i recieved my new polling place.

Switching out some locations is just one of the many new changes the city is working on for the primaries.

City clerk, anissa hollingshead, tells me a number of their regular election judges aren't able to volunteer this year because of concerns of covid?

"*19.

So they're asking for more judges than in previous years and she says that'll help voters navigate through these new changes.

All of the poll workers and the voters will be given a mask or a face shield, hand sanitzer will be placed throughout the precinct and there will be enough space in between each voting station.

Hollingshead tells me they're expecting fewer people to vote in august, so that can give them a better idea of how to run things in "certainly we know that voting by mail is a choice that voters can make and that's definitely something that we still encourage voters who may have concerns about going to polling place.

We also need to make sure that we have safe polling places available for voters."

Hollingshead tells me they only have about 60 percent of the amount of judges they're needing.
