Welcome back to newswatch welcome back welcome back to newswatch 12 midday and meet our pets of the week this week, rooster and meowmeow.

Rooster is a 10-month old australian cattle dog/blue heeler mix.

This young boy needs humans who understand the nature of his 'herding dog' breed, which requires an excellent balance of mental and physical stimulus.

Rooster can be a bit shy at first, but if people go slowly with him when slowly with people go first, but if be a bit shy at rooster can be a bit shy at first, but if people go slowly with him when introduced and let him relax, he's quick to warm up.

He's playful and eager to please, takes treats easily, so continuing his training will be fun and pretty easy.

Rooster came to the shelter because he wasn't a good fit for the family he was living with.

Doing his 'job' by herding children and nipping at heels makes some people uneasy, so a home without small children is best.

Rooster also has a strong prey drive for small animals like rabbits, so a home without access to small animals would be good.

His previous owner said he is loving and smart, already learning commands such as sit, lie down, and paw.

He'd be a terrific candidate for obedience training.

This kind of activity is a great way for human & dog to bond and have loads of fun.

Remember, a puppy takes plenty of time and training, so consider this and the breed characteristics if you are interested in making this terrific dog your new family member.

Our cat of the week this week is meowmeow, a 2-year old white "cream-sickle" colored guy who is a big lovebug.

He tells us he is so special you have to say his name twice.

Need a movie-buddy or someone to share endless love and affection?

Meowmeow would like to apply for the job!

Don't forget its kitten season and the jackson county animal shelter has plenty of them on that note the shelter needs donations of kitten and cat dry food.

And for all that good care for cats and dogs, they sure could use more large towels.

So, if you have large towels you don't need any longer, please consider dropping them by the back blue door of the shelter on the south side of the building.
