The city posted on Facebook Monday urging for everyone to wear masks into any public building to keep down the spread of the coronavirus.

City of amory leaders are urging people to wear face coverings at area businesses.

Wtva's chelsea brown is live in amory with how residents feel about wearing masks.

Most people i saw today were wearing masks.

Some chose not to.

I spoke with some customers as they were coming out of food giant earlier and most were in favor of wearing masks.

City leaders in amory made a facebook post monday urging residents to use a mask or face covering while in businesses.

"it's a good idea to have them on, then some people don't like wearing them.

I caught someone saying something to them about wearing the mask and they gave them a crazy look."

City leaders say at this time nothing is 100% effective and leaders see both sides of the arguments along with masks.

Most people i spoke with don't have any issues with wearing the masks, some would rather not wear one though.

"in stores that require them, i wear them.

Otherwise i don't" "it will keep us safe and keep the disease down, wear the mask" the city is not requiring face masks to be worn but leaders ask for residents to "please please wear face covering inside public and business indoor spaces."

The post said the city does not want to mandate the requirement of face masks.

City leaders believe the public can work together to slow the spread of the coronaviurs.

"i feel good about wearing the it because i don't want that stuff.

If someone don't wanna wear it they don't care for their health."

The city of amory added that if you cannot find any face masks in retail stores to contact the amory pandemic response center.
