Fox 55's jentill neal tells us how the community effort to make 10-thousand masks got accomplished.

Jentill?hunter i'm told the goal initially was 10, 000 masks but this week they've exceeded that goal by making and passing out 10, 338 makes to people in southeast fort wayne.

A partnership of local churches has exceeded their goal to provide mask to families in need on the southeast side of fort wayne.> 16:27:00-16:27:09"people are very thankful.

We passed out a lot of masks at the protests and pretty much anywhere we're seeing people not in masks."

One of the popular give away spots is the utopian grocery store.

Where volunteers handed out food during food giveaways.?with the help of volunteers they've made and given 10,338 masks since their start back in march.it began by helping parkview patients and then stretched to the community.fisher says hopefully the masks helped to prevent a spike.

16:27:47-16:28:05"surrounding counties to my knowledge are not decreasing so hopefully the fact that we passed out 10,000 masks, hopefully that helped with the decrease in the virus spreading."fisher says the work isn't done.

16:28:13-16:28:33"we're working on grant funding to get more masks that are purchased and also working on getting more food through the human agriculture co-op that ty simmons leads that he's been pushing for the last few weekends of food passouts."
