Fourteen villagers were rescued by emergency crews after floodwater from a dam imprisoned them in their own homes amid heavy rains in Gujarat, western India.

The incident took place on June 22 in the small village of Mandvi, Kutch district.

According to reports, after the check dam in Bhasar started to overflow, nearby became homes inundated with water, trapping many residents.

Footage shows emergency crews using a rope to rescue the trapped villagers, including a young child and an elderly woman.

There were no reports of casualties.
