According to multiple press releases sent out by the university, the budget is making safety a top priority during the covid-19 pandemic.

As much as 50 million dollars will be used for things like testing and tracing ... building and facility changes ... sanitizing and cleaning ... and safety equipment.

Another 5 million dollars will be used to hire 28 new faculty members.

Purdue trustees also approved four measures based on proposals evaluated by the university's medical advisory team.

First, there will be a staged return of upper level students and onboarding of first year students through boiler gold rush.

There will be an on- site testing and tracing program available.

The university will work to develop and conduct new dining operations that focus on social distancing, cleaning and carry- out options.

And finally it will work to make classes a hybrid of in-person and online teaching.

At the end of may, the board of trustees approved the protect purdue pledge.

Which is a commitment of (all members of the campus community to take measures in stopping the spread of covid-19.

Some of the pledge includes monitoring for symptoms with daily temperature checks and staying home if sick.

Also washing hands often, getting the flu vaccine, maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
