Should protesters be tested for the coronavirus?

WTVA spoke with an organizer of Starkville's recent rally.

Of the centers for disease control told congress people protesting the death of george floyd need to get tested for the coronavirus.

Wtva's wayne herford talked to an organizer of the protest in starkville this past weekend.

He joins us live from starkville with their thoughts on people who attended being tested..

The state department of health sponsored a free test here in starkville today where at least 120 people were signed up to be tested.

Pastor joseph stone who helped organized last weekend's rally in downtown says everyone who was there should have already been tested.

But urged everyone who has not to do so.

To get tested."

"my response is i think people should have been tested anyway" pastor joseph stone says protestors were not only people in downtown starkville this past saturday.

He says the orgainzers were very aware of avoiding community spread of the coronavirus.

"everyone needs to be tested .

Any scientist any medical professional says testing and tracking.

We know that some risks with the march, but this is is such an extreme circumstance.

But we tried to go about it the right way."

Pastor stone says they asked protestors who wear masks, gave them masks if they did not have any and practiced social distancing when they could.

Meanwhile, there was a testing site in starkville at tornado safe room .

Standup..the organizers here at the testing site said it was easy to get in and get out.

All the more reason to get tested.

(major jason odom.

Mississippi national guard) "currently we have tested forty eight personnel that have come through the testing site .

And we're currently scheduled for a hundred and twenty total."

We are not sure how many protestors may have been in that number but the pastor certainly hopes there were some who made it.

"but i would urge anybody , whether they marched or didn't march, to go get tested."

Major odom says anyone who was tested today will receive their testing results in five to seven days.
