Asante's Dr. Chris David talks about the need for people to continue to seek treatment if they feel ill.

And recoveries for each spoke with the medical director of emergency services at asante three rivers medical center about the issue.

Why is it important for people not to delay care?

Because the coronavirus concerns coronavirus certainly does enhance the fear that people have, especially about going to a medical facility.

But if they are having what could be a life threatening illness that is imperative to get the fastest care possible, that's going to enhance the ability to get them a good and fast recovery prevent further injury, and hopefully get them back to good health.

What protections are in place for people visiting the hospitals.

We do have several different things that are occurring.

Every one is masks to prevent a lot of their civilization and spread and that's throughout the staff and the, um, patients that are coming in.

We have a rapid screening that can happen if we have suspicion over here.

A corona virus so we can get testing that is pretty quick.

And that also includes any staff members that might have symptoms. so we can prevent that from spreading through our hospital.

And we're also having some visitor restrictions.

So not as many visitors, which is not always ideal, but it helps also to prevent, spread and cross contamination that might occur otherwise.

What are some alternatives?

If people still aren't comfortable visiting in a hospital?

They can certainly always contact the corona or covert hotline.

They can also call into the hospital and they can usually be, have a nurse or a triage.

Um, ask them questions, talk to them about their symptoms and make a good recommendation thereafter to say, do you need to go to the emergency department?

Can i wait to see your physician or urgent care also an option for you?

What is a santee done to make it safe for people to come.

To get urgent care for treatment.

Again, much of the same kind of screening process to evaluate when patients come first to the urgent care, making sure they're not having any symptoms that would be consistent with a contagious infection masks for all staff, all people that are entering the building and making sure that we're only having the essential people there, including patients that are needing to be there.

So there are less people exposed.
